Build Your Future on a Strong Academic Foundation.
STANDARD AMERICAN HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA
YOUR FUTURE. A GLOBAL OPPORTUNITY.
Programme Overview
The Standard American High School Diploma Pathway is intended for learners who need a broader programme of secondary education rather than a limited top-up plan. It provides a structured route through core academic subjects, electives and applied learning. Entry placement and the final course sequence are determined by the learner's previous school records and OCAHS evaluation.
Who Should Apply
- Students who have completed lower-secondary education or an equivalent level.
- Students with partial upper-secondary studies who require a wider range of remaining credits.
- International learners seeking an American high school curriculum.
- Students transferring from another school system whose prior credits require evaluation and mapping.
Admission Requirements
The following is an indicative entry profile. Final admission, age requirements and placement are subject to current OCAHS policies.
- Indicative entry profile: completion of Grade 9 or Grade 10, or equivalent; placement is based on actual records, not a country-to-country grade label alone.
- Official school transcripts or report cards covering completed secondary-level study.
- School leaving or progression certificate, where applicable.
- Passport or government-issued identification and proof of age.
- Any placement, English-language or mathematics readiness information requested by OCAHS.
Academic Evaluation and Credit Planning
OCAHS reviews prior academic records to determine grade placement and transferable credits. Learners with limited transferable high-school credits may need to complete a larger portion of the diploma requirements. The school should provide an individual academic plan showing accepted credits, required courses, credit values, course sequence and estimated completion schedule.
How the study plan is confirmed
OCAHS should review the applicant's records and issue an individual academic evaluation showing accepted transfer credits, outstanding subjects, course sequence and estimated completion time. No transfer credit or completion date is guaranteed before this review.
Curriculum and Subject Areas
The following subjects are illustrative options for academic planning. The final courses, credit values and graduation requirements must be taken from the current OCAHS-approved catalogue and the student's individual graduation plan.
| Subject Area | Indicative Courses / Requirements |
|---|---|
| English Language Arts | English I–IV or other approved English Language Arts courses, according to placement |
| Mathematics | Algebra I; Geometry; Algebra II; Pre-Calculus or other approved courses, as required |
| Science | Biology; Chemistry; Physics; Environmental Science or other approved science courses |
| Social Studies | World History; US History; Government; Civics; Economics |
| World Languages / Arts / PE | Approved courses needed to satisfy the applicable graduation requirements |
| Electives | Approved electives such as Computer Applications, Digital Literacy, Computer Science, Business, Entrepreneurship, Psychology or STEM |
Learning and Assessment
Learning is delivered through the OCAHS-approved online learning environment and course structure. OCAHS describes assessment activities that may include:
- Online quizzes and knowledge checks
- Written assignments, essays and analytical responses
- Worksheets and guided online research / WebQuests
- Journal or reflective submissions, where prescribed
- Unit-based projects and applied learning activities
- End-of-course examinations, where required
The final assessment components, grading scale, examination rules and course completion standards are governed by OCAHS's current academic regulations.
Duration and Completion
The earlier planning model proposed 18–24 months for a standard pathway. This is an estimate, not a guaranteed completion period. Duration depends on the learner's prior credits, remaining requirements, course availability, academic progress and OCAHS scheduling.
Indicative duration
Approximately 18–24 months (planning estimate only; subject to academic placement and OCAHS approval).
Progression Opportunities
Graduates who complete all diploma requirements may apply to higher education, foundation studies, career and technical education or other post-secondary opportunities. Admission and recognition are subject to the receiving institution's requirements.
